FIRST Technology Association, Inc. (FTA) is a not-for-profit (NFP) established in 2002 and incorporated in 2011 in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and operates under the name of FIRST Robotics Newfoundland & Labrador.  In 2002, FIRST Robotics Newfoundland & Labrador was the first in Canada to implement the Junior High school robotics competition called FIRST LEGO League (FLL) using the LEGO^® Mindstorms Robotics Invention System (RIS).  FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is an international robotics program formed as an alliance between FIRST and The LEGO^® Group (Denmark). For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) is an international youth organization that operates the FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST LEGO League, FIRST LEGO League Jr., and FIRST Tech Challenge competitions.
